1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Holy Reads mobile application, website (holyreads.com), and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Holy Reads OÜ (registry code 14784471, Sakala tn 7-2, Kesklinna linnaosa, Tallinn, Harju maakond, Estonia) ("Holy Reads", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal data. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

If you access the Service through Google Play or the Apple App Store, the terms of those platforms also apply to your download and purchases. Where those platform terms conflict with these Terms regarding billing or refunds, the platform terms prevail.

2. The Service and Eligibility

Holy Reads provides digital faith-based content, including book summaries, audiobooks, videos, prayers, and meditations. Some content is free; other content requires a paid subscription.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, which is 13 in Estonia and up to 16 in some EU member states) to create an account. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. The App is rated for a general audience, but it is not directed at children under 13.

3. Your Account

You may register using your email address and password, or through Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in.

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

Your account is personal to you. You may not share, sell, or transfer it, or let others use your subscription unless a plan expressly allows it.

4. Subscriptions, Payments, and Refunds

4.1 Plans and pricing. Paid plans, prices, and billing periods are shown in the App or on our website before you buy. Prices may include or exclude VAT or other taxes depending on your location, as shown at checkout.

4.2 Payment processing. Payments are handled by Google Play Billing, the Apple App Store, or our web payment processors (such as Stripe or Razorpay). We do not store your full card details.

4.3 Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. We will notify you in advance of any price increase, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

4.4 Free trials. If we offer a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Trial eligibility is limited to one per person or account.

4.5 How to cancel.

Cancellation stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the current paid period. Deleting the App or your account does not by itself cancel a subscription purchased through Google Play or the App Store.

4.6 Refunds. Purchases made through Google Play or the App Store are subject to those platforms' refund policies, and refund requests must be made to them. For purchases made on our website, you may request a refund by emailing info@holyreads.com; except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

4.7 EU/EEA right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a contract for digital content. By starting a subscription and requesting immediate access, you expressly consent to the Service beginning immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once access to the digital content has begun, to the extent permitted by law.

5. Licence and Intellectual Property

All content in the Service, including summaries, audio, video, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by Holy Reads or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Subject to these Terms and any applicable subscription, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own private, non-commercial use.

Downloaded content is available for offline use only while your subscription is active and remains within the App.

If you believe content in the Service infringes your rights, contact info@holyreads.com with details of the work and the location of the content.

6. Your Content and Acceptable Use

You keep ownership of the notes, highlights, bookmarks, feedback, and other content you create ("User Content"). You grant us a licence to store, process, and display your User Content only as needed to provide and sync the Service. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

When using the Service, you agree not to:

7. Nature of Content and Third-Party Services

7.1 Faith-based content. Content in the Service is provided for spiritual, inspirational, and educational purposes. Summaries are condensed interpretations and are not a substitute for the original works. Content does not represent the official teaching of any church or denomination. Nothing in the Service is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice; please consult a qualified professional for those needs.

7.2 Changes to content. We may add, change, or remove content and features at any time, including where licences with third-party rights holders end.

7.3 Third-party services. The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services, such as payment providers and social sign-in providers. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for them.

8. Termination and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can permanently delete your account in the App under Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing info@holyreads.com from your registered email address with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Data is handled as described in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy. Remember to cancel any app-store subscription separately (Section 4.5).

We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where reasonably possible, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. If we terminate a paid subscription without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid fees.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 5, 9, 10, and 11) will continue to apply.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any content will be complete or accurate. Nothing in these Terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer, including legal guarantees that digital content conforms to the contract.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Holy Reads will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) EUR 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, for gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnity

If you are using the Service for business purposes, or where otherwise permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Holy Reads against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint informally. EU consumers may also use the Estonian Consumer Disputes Committee or the courts of Estonia.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, the law, or app-store policies. We will notify you of material changes via the App, our website, or email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you may cancel your subscription and stop using the Service before the changes apply. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
